When Does Wake Superposition Modeling Need a Hybrid Approach? Three Offshore Wind Farms Provide the Answer

 

Meteodyn tested a hybrid sector-based wake superposition model across three offshore wind farms (Lillgrund, Horns Rev, and Nysted) to determine when direction-dependent wake effects require more than standard modeling approaches. By combining the Linear model for offset wind conditions with MaxSum for aligned conditions, the study identifies exactly where this hybrid approach adds value.
